This is a HUGE carved leather chessboard (67X67cm) with wonderful pieces (in resin, and coming from Anne carlton Studio, 395£ of value!)
This chessboard is made on premium vegetable tanned leather cowhide (9oz thick) and glued and nailed on wood with ball feet (8cm tall)
All details are from the famous Bayeux Tapestry, that tells the conquest of England by William, duke of Normandy in 1066, becoming king, against Harold the saxon...: Ships, lions, horses, knotworks, patterns, colors...
A decorative stitch with colored thread underlines the damier pattern to remind the embroideries of the Bayeux tapestry...
5X5cm squares (painted with liquid gold for half of them). Varnished.
More than 50 hours of handwork and research...
Comes with a wooden box for the pieces (Pic1 & 2) and a embroidered linen cover for the board (Pic10)
